A fitting title for a fitting update, as today is Day of the Dead, and also Nahast's anniversary! Which number? I'm kind of ashamed that I don't have the number off the top of my head, but with all the hiatuses that have lasted from months to years, the anniversary would not mark Nahast's age properly, just how long since I started it, and how long I've refused to call it done, despite the ups and downs in my life so far.
These bumps have spanned the whole range of life experienecs; I got and lost jobs, fell in love and got summarily dumped, other projects failed or succeeded, but Nahast has always been there in the background, and I have to remind myself all the time how working on the story and the art fulfills me, despite all the hard work it entails.
The other way the update is fitting is not only that Nahast keeps returning from the dead, but also because this chapter's antagonists gets to tell his story, and the source of his anger. Ghosts are by definition creatures of passion, and even if he's not quite the soul of the man Master Tazarik used to be, his shade carries with him all the pain and resentment that colored the last hours of his life.
So, Happy Day of the Dead! May the memories of those you've lost help you live your lives with renewed joy and strength.
