Derrexi asks Niriko about what she did.
And explanation, part 2. I don't remember if I mentioned it before, but I intended this chapter to explore some of the flaws in the girl's personalities, with the foreknowledge that I was taking a bit of a risk. The idea is to show that it's not wrong to have weaknesses, the problem is when you let that weakness define you. Here, Niriko exposes that her bravery about facing everyday life as a half-elf is not as "brave" as she convinced herself it was. She's just letting her anger and frustration accumulate until it blows up on her, and the fallout hurts people around her. The detonator this time was what Derrexi's guess, but the implications and complications from that.. will remain unexplained :)
Still, this chapter will help Niriko and Behari deal with their own flaws in what I hope will be one of the best scenes in the comic ;)
And now I want to take this chance to return a favor! Nikita Mahla is the artist who provided illustrations for one of the stories in Chronicles of the 5th Age. Although that story is kind of stillborn and her own comic "Pan's Corner" (where I first saw her work) is mostly dead, we remained more or less in touch through our respective DeviantArt galleries. Recently she promoted me in her journal, but since I've written nothing in my own DA journal, I thought it was best to wave at her from here. She has an awesome job as an archaeologist, and a curious fascination with Transformers. I like her style very much, and thus want to share her gallery with you, my readers! Check her out!
